Pop Up Picnics

It may seem strange that a photography company does Pop Up Picnics, but it all makes sense really! I was gifted a picnic for my birthday and loved it, but I couldn’t get any decent photos of us! No-one walked past so we had to settle for selfies. So I thought: what if a picnic came with a professional photographer?! And then I thought: what if a professional photographer arranged picnics?! So here we are!

I actually loved buying all the stuff I needed! It was so much fun, and then I did a set up in the backyard for website photos! The best bit about the pop up picnics so far has been that my kids have been involved!! They love helping and setting up!

Emily contacted me a few months ago asking if I could do a picnic for 19 people! I had only really catered for 12, but sure! Why not! Happily they wanted their pop up picnic in Wynnum, not too far from me. We set up in Drevesen Park by the water but in plenty of shade.

In addition to a grazing box or two provided by local legends Jill and Pablo from The Grazing Kitchen (check them out, they’re awesome! https://www.facebook.com/grazingkitchen13/), our picnics are unique as they include a photo shoot to capture your experience properly!

We did the photos before the feasting began (to avoid watermelon juice redecorating the kids’ clothes!!) and I got some candid photos of everyone enjoying their picnic. Then I left the guys to it and came back 2 hours later to clear up! Easy!

A Pop Up Picnic is an amazing, hassle-free way to spend a morning or afternoon, and is ideal for a celebration, a girls afternoon, a baby shower, birthday or family catch up. And having your own photo shoot means you can share your event and relive it!

Straddie Island Wedding Photography

I have lived in the Redlands for over ten years but I am still blown away every time I head to Straddie with just how beautiful it is! There is something about the light over there that is gorgeous and it is impossible to take a bad Straddie Island Wedding Photography photo over there! It does help when you have incredible models like Rhiannon and Ari of course!

I like to think I’m pretty laid back, but I am nothing compared to Ari! Ten minutes before his ceremony and he was in boardies building his wedding arbor from driftwood he found on the beach! Fits perfectly with the laid back Straddie lifestyle!

The ceremony was on Cylinder Beach on the north side of the island and wasn’t too busy. The ceremony was a beautiful, intimate elopement with the couple’s families having flown in from Scotland and Iran.

Bring a winter wedding, we had a sunset over the ocean and it was gorgeous! That golden hour light is just perfect. Straddie Island Wedding Photography light is amazing!

One of my favourite things about being a wedding photographer is the different people I meet and the variety of traditions I get to see! Ari’s sister had set up a traditional Iranian display on the rocks and grated sugar on a white decoration above the couple as they shared honey. Awesome!

Shortly followed by the Aussie tradition of champagne and photos with the family!

One of my favourite parts of any wedding day is the photos of the wedding couple. It is my chance to get creative and to capture the love between the couple. It was the perfect situation: amazing light, amazing couple, amazing scenery! And I call this work!

Seriously though; how gorgeous are these shots! Perfection!

I’ve never liked charging travel fees, but due to the time it takes to get to Straddie and the logistics of hopping on and off ferries and transferring to a bus, I do request you book a 4, 6, or 8-hour package for your Straddie wedding. At least this way you get more photos and aren’t paying for my travel!

Mt Coot-Tha Wedding Photos

Its not often a cyclone forces a Mt Coot-Tha wedding postponement, but that’s exactly what happened for Jessica and Nick when Cyclone Alfred decided to turn up uninvited!

Happily Jessica and Nick are not your average couple! They got married whilst Alfred raged, and we rescheduled the Mt Coot-Tha wedding photos for the following week! And what a shoot it was!

Jess and Nick were natural models and made my job very easy! We chose a few Mt Coot-Tha wedding photo locations in a Zoom chat beforehand and headed straight to the lake. It was early morning so the light was fantastic, and we had the place to ourselves. Mt Coot-Tha Botanic Gardens is an amazing spot for wedding photography. There is so much greenery and amazing backdrop locations. And having photographed there many times, I know it very well!

From the lake we headed to the bamboo area, and then to the rainforest. We were able to get a great mix of photos.

With an early morning start, we pretty much had Mt Coot-Tha Botanic Gardens to ourselves. This made the shoot a lot easier without prying eyes! Jessica and Nick were so confident though – they were the perfect models!

Andy is the best Elopement Photographer Brisbane! I have been photographing weddings for well over ten years and I adore what I do for a living! Every wedding is different and every couple is awesome! Since Covid, more couples are opting for a quick elopement wedding. And I would love to help out!

Elopement Photography

Amanda and Justin had a midweek elopement wedding and booked me for the hour (only $550 within 30kms of the Redlands!). The elopement photography package still includes a chat to go through the plans and includes an uncapped number of high resolution digital photos.

Elopement weddings tend to be smaller, more intimate celebrations and Amanda and Justin’s was no different with just their kids and a few family members to share their special day. Once the paperwork signed we headed to Shornecliffe jetty for some bride and groom photos. Water backdrops always make for amazing photo locations, and the couple were the perfect models! In spite of the heat!

Elopement Photographer

An elopement wedding is a great option if you are looking for a more intimate wedding, or are on a budget! Being an elopement photographer Brisbane myself, I would love to hear from you! I have a midweek elopement photography package for just $550 for 1-hour. This is usually enough time to cover the ceremony and a handful of bride and groom shots. Sandstone Point Hotel Wedding

I love a Sandstone Point Hotel wedding! The Sandstone Point Hotel is an amazing venue for your big day! It has everything you need – a chapel for your ceremony, a jetty for amazing bride and groom photos, and plenty of nearby accommodation to get ready in. So when Corrie and Ben asked if I would photograph their wedding at The Sandstone Point Hotel, I jumped at the chance!

The couple got ready at The Big 4 Holiday park next door, an easy walk away. I got some photos with the bride and groom in their separate rooms and then headed to the Sandstone Point Hotel chapel to catch up with Annette Richards, one of my favourite celebrants! (Check her out! https://www.annetterichards.com.au/) Annette always make her ceremonies fun and relaxed and adds a few extra touches that I love (makes sure the kiss is long enough to photograph, reminds the bride’s Dad to kiss his daughter!!) And anyone who helps make my job easier is always a friend of mine!

And then the ceremony! It is always the most emotionally charged part of the day, and I adore having a front row seat! Especially when there are kids involved in the ceremony!

I always do a group shot and family photos after the ceremony. Its better to do it early before everyone escapes to the bar!

And then to my favourite part of the day. The bride and groom photos. There are some amazing spots next to the chapel. But I love getting to the Oyster Shack jetty around sunset – the light is always amazing and the photos always look phenomenal!

Then once the sun has set it is time for the festivities! The Sandstone Point Hotel has many amazing wedding reception locations. Corrie and Ben opted for an outdoor venue under an amazing twinkling tree! So photogenic!

Affordable Family Photographs

I have been photographing families for well over ten years. And I love my job! If you are looking for affordable family photographs, I would love to help out! I am a Dad to two kids myself so I speak their language! I also photograph 300 families a year so have plenty of training in dealing with meltdowns, shyness and tantrums!

Our Affordable Family Photograph packages start at $110 for one of our mini shoots. If you are wanting something a little more relaxed, and with a few more photographs included, you can book a 25 minute photo shoot in the Redlands for as little as $165.00. Family Photo Shoot

Ayumi had booked a family photo shoot with me in 2022 and loved the experience so recently rebooked. She was looking for a more candid style of photography so after a handful of posed ones (good for Christmas gifts!) I put on the big lens and let the magic happen!

I have a lot of families who have family photos taken once or twice every year. Having an affordable family photographer means you can capture the kids growing. No-one ever said they had too many photos of the kids when they were little!

Beerwah Engagement Photos

If you are reading this as you are recently engaged: congratulations! Hopefully you are looking for some photo inspo ideas for an engagement shoot? Well I would love to help out! I love Beerwah engagement photos and I have photographed around the Glasshouse Mountain area many times. Knowing the area well means I know the best, quietest and most hidden spots!

I met Leisl and Klae at a wedding recently and once Klae popped the question they called and asked if I would get some Beerwah engagement photos for them. Oh yeah! They are such an amazing, loved up couple and I couldn’t wait! Happily I knew the area well, but Leisl and Klae took a drive north to do some photo location spotting themselves. We started in Maleny then headed down the range to an area near Australia Zoo. We had the lanes to ourselves so were able to snap in peace without prying eyes!

Engagement Photo Shoot

As the afternoon light got better, we headed closer to the Glasshouse mountains and got in amongst the amazing pine trees that dot the region. The low afternoon light made for a perfect couples photo shoot as Leisl showed off her engagement bling!

Couple Photo Shoot

The guys were brave enough to bush bash and get amongst it! The dirt paths around there are awesome for leading line photographs, but we wanted to get closer to the trees to capture that slowly setting sun filtering through. Golden hour indeed!

Engagement shoot prices start at $165 for a 25-minute shoot in the Redlands. But for more photos and more shooting time (and dare I say more fun!) you can opt for my 2-hour dedicated engagement shoot package. This gives 120-minutes of photography and around 60-80 edited high resolution digital images for $450! (Some locations may have a small travel fee, depending on location!)

Tattersall’s Wedding Photos

Tattersall’s Club in Brisbane is an amazing venue for a wedding! I have shot there several times over the years and find it to be one of the best places for wedding photography in Brisbane. If you are looking for Tattersall’s wedding photos, we would love to hear from you!

Pam and Chris recently asked me to photograph their wedding at Tatt’s Club and I jumped at the chance. I love photographing weddings at Tattersall’s. It is such a unique, classic venue and so photogenic! Even before the venue started to fill, I couldn’t stop snapping!

Pam and Chris were married in the Member’s Dining Room with its amazing mezzanine level, for fantastic aerial photography and group shots!

The lighting is always so good in there and the decor adds a classic element to your wedding.

Following cocktail hour in the Member’s Dining Room, we grabbed a few bride and groom shots in the club, then headed to the Member’s Bar for the reception! This is another great space for wedding photography!

The small Juliette balcony by the library is my favourite spot for tattersall’s wedding photos. And luckily the weather was kind to us!

And the party! It was an amazing atmosphere, with fabulous food and music!

Sundari contacted me with a specific selection of website photographs she was wanting for her website. I love getting shotlists! Although I am always happy to offer advice and suggestions, a little input goes a long way!

We started in MK Cafe in New Farm Park and took some ‘lifestyle’ photos. Sundari brought along some friends as ‘models’ to participate in a reading to help highlight her work.

From here we headed into New Farm Park. You will often find me snapping away in the park – it has so many amazing backdrops and a great variety of locations. From the urban chic Powerhouse, the big tree, and the buildings of Brisbane’s CBD. A website photographer Brisbane needs to have a repertoire of photography locations!

Pet Photographer

It isn’t often someone steals my heart but Rosie most certainly did! As a pet photographer I meet a lot of fur babies and love their unique charms and personalities! Rosie was just beautiful – so easy to photograph, so well behaved and such a loving and obedient puppy!

And so were her parents Jo and Jarrah! Jo had called a few weeks earlier wanting some pet photographs to capture Rosie before her surgery. I jumped at the chance! Every day is different for photographers and I love the chance for some weekend pet photography!

As with all of my family photography sessions, I get as many different combinations as possible. Pet photography is no different and I mixed up the combos early on! Rosie was an absolute gem in her solo photos, sitting on demand, staying when told to do so – as did her parents! On occasion 😉

We took the pet photography photos at Wellington Point Reserve. It is a great location with bay views, Moreton Bay figs and an open grassy area for Rosie to run around in. A pet photographer usually needs a degree of patience but not so with Rosie! She was a dream! And she even let me get some lovely couple photos of her Mum and Dad!
