Rainforest Gardens Wedding

If it wasn’t already evident from previous blog posts; I love what I do for a living! Especially when I get to spend the day with amazing people like Courtney and Aaron! What a fabulous day!

And what a perfect location! Rainforest Gardens in Mt Cotton is a truly amazing, self contained venue in the Redlands and is one of my favourite venues to photograph. The grounds are spectacular, the staff are awesome, and being self-contained, there is no reason to pack up and head off site for photos!

But first, the getting ready pics!

The atmosphere with Courtney and her bridesmaids was amazing – so laid back and relaxed, and being the only guy in the room made me the focus of their jokes:) A few drinks and a few photos (and a few tears!) later and I headed off to Rainforest gardens to pick on the boys!

Again the atmosphere was relaxed and upbeat, and the boys seemed pretty laid back. Until the car arrived!

With the bride’s arrival, it all gets real!

Wedding Photography

Yes there were tears and yes there were smiles, but all the best weddings have these! Happily Cassandra Bowles was on hand to officiate and keep everyone in check! Cass did an amazing job and was the perfect celebrant for Court and Aaron mixing up the sentiment with the humour:) You can check out her web page here: www.cassandrabowles.com

The ceremony is, of course, the most important part of the day and is always filled with emotion. I love hearing personal vows and seeing who will be the first to cry (spoiler: Courtney!)

And once the signing has been completed and the ceremony finalised, it is generally the photographers turn to take over! My time to shine! And Rainforest gardens has the perfect spot for a group photo, and the grounds are a stunning location for bridal party photography!

Oh, did I mention Rainforest Gardens has llamas? They have llamas 🙂

Wedding Photographer

The best time of day for wedding photography is the Golden Hour; that last hour before the sun sets when everything looks warm and gorgeous and happily Rainforest Gardens has a spectacular hilltop lookout to watch the sunset on your most magical of days:)

And how to better a perfect afternoon? With a perfect evening! Bring on the reception!

And with Aaron’s speech drifting into the ether, my night was over. What a truly spectacular day in a truly spectacular location.

Twins Newborn shoot

Twins Newborn Photography

What’s the only thing better than a newborn photo shoot? A twins newborn photo shoot, of course!

I was lucky enough to capture Brenda and Ben’s beautiful girls one warm morning in April last year and had an absolute blast! I knew Ben from capturing his sister’s wedding a couple of years ago, so was delighted to hear that not only had the guys had a beautiful baby girl, but two!

The biggest difference between a newborn photo shoot and a twin’s newborn photo shoot is that there is twice the chance of waking up, meltdowns an tantrums! Happily the girls were beautifully behaved and gave us some sleeping photos, some awake photos and were even well behaved when we went to a local park to do some natural family photographs!

What I love most about this photo shoot is how natural everyone looks and how relaxed! Not easy when you have to brand new people thrust into your lives!

Thankfully, Brenda and Ben colour coded the girls for me! That could have lead to a little embarrassment otherwise!

The great thing about newborn packages is that we include your high resolution images on a disc so you don’t get stung by add ons and print fees. We can also travel to you or you are welcome to have the photos taken at our photography studio in Alexandra Hills.

Baby Photographs: Amelia’s Baby Shoot

We all love baby photographs! Newborns are so photogenic, so cute and so cuddly and it is every Mum and Dad’s wish to capture some amazing baby photographs of their beautiful newborn before they get too big!

Happily A Thousand Miles Photography specialise in baby photographs and newborn photography and can capture your beautiful new arrival in the comfort of your own home! We have several newborn photography package options, including the option of visiting our studio in Alexandra Hills, and for us to do the photo shoot in the comfort of your own home!

We have a fantastic array of blankets, wraps and baskets to make the shoot run smoothly and we do recommend bringing along any toys and props that you would like to have in the photographs.

I knew Kelly and Rob from a couples photo shoot we had done earlier in the year so I leapt at the chance to capture Amelia, their beautiful new arrival!

We did the photos at their place in Birkdale and were rewarded with great light and a well behaved Little Miss!

We managed to get some sleeping shots, some waking photos, some photos with Mum and Dad and some baby photos of Amelia in her own room. The great thing about doing a newborn photo shoot with us is that you get the high resolution images on a disc, so there’s no need to dig out crumpled, old photos on their 21st birthday!

Brisbane Newborn Photographer – Jasmine

I love being a Brisbane Newborn Photographer! There is something so amazingly rewarding about capturing something so gorgeous, so delicate and so beautiful and I never see a job as work!

I think having two of my own helps! I know how the meltdowns go, and when to hold off from the photos to allow Bub the chance to feed or have a cuddle. Moreover, I don’t stress when the meltdowns do happen; it is all a natural part of being a Brisbane newborn photographer!

Happily I didn’t have to stress with our beautiful little model, Jasmine! She was a star from the start with minimal fuss and managing to sleep almost all the way through her newborn photo shoot!

It also helped that Mum and Dad were superstars too! Derek and Belinda were very calm (even if Derek did insist on pulling out his Liverpool FC scarf! Red rag to a bull for a Manchester United support like myself!) and had a lot of fun throughout the newborn photography session.

We finished up the session with some family photographs, then we left Jasmine to sleep without the camera!

A few days following the newborn photo shoot, I received a card in the post from Mum and Dad with a photo of jasmine on the front and a touching message inside. That is what it is all about! When your job allows you to do something as amazing and meaningful as newborn photography, then you know your job is a lot of fun!

Couples Photo Shoot Brisbane – Donnie and Maddie

Donnie emailed me in the new year to book in a couples photo shoot but I had no idea it was going to be a surprise! The look on poor Maddie’s face when I interrupted their milkshake date was priceless!

So gentlemen, let me just highlight the new benchmark for romance! Donnie not only organised a romantic couples photo shoot for his partner of three years, but he aced the photos too! That must have earned him a good few brownie points!

Donnie and Maddie must be amongst the most natural and enthusiastic couples I have photographed, and I humbly believe the results are amazing as a consequence! Both of the guys were happy to take some gentle coaxing and suggestions and were only too happy to pose and cuddle up for the camera!

Romantic Couples Photos

We did the couples photo shoot at Wellington Point Park, one of my favourite places in the Redlands for romantic couples photography. We started at the Moreton Bay Figs (honestly, is it possible to take a bad photo here?!) before talking a walk along the beach and then heading to the jetty. It was a warm and beautiful morning with Donnie and Maddie making the most of the conditions to get some fantastic photos.

The time flew! We had an hour and it felt like ten minutes! I truly love what I do for a living and I hope it comes across in the photo shoots! I always say that if the time flies then you are having fun, and if you are having fun then how can it possibly be work! Thank you so much for an amazing morning guys and I hope to see you again soon! Andy

We got the photos yesterday and they look amazing! We are both so very happy with the result and both want to thank you again for being so nice and easy to get along with, also for taking such awesome photos!

Redlands Photographer: Shahn and Joe’s Engagement Shoot

Location: Wellington Point

Hi there, let me introduce myself! My name is Andy Williams and I am a Redlands Photographer!

I love the Redlands but only moved here in 2015. We are based in Alexandra Hills and have a home studio, but we absolutely love on location photo shoots, such as Shahn and Joe’s Engagement photo shoot at Wellington Point park!

I particularly love Wellington Point as a location for photo shoots as there are so many options for backdrops! I always start at the beautiful Moreton bay Fig trees, before moving to the beach, jetty and bay views on the opposite side of the peninsular. Being a Redlands photographer means I know the area very well and know of a few secret photo locations!

Shahn and Joe were an amazing couple to photograph; so relaxed, so much fun and so much in love! I was privileged to have been asked to capture their wedding a few months after capturing these photographs, and that wedding day was equally as fun as this engagement shoot!

We were lucky that Wellington Point park was quite quiet that day so the guys had the place to themselves! We used all that the park had to offer and got some amazing and natural photographs; one of the specifications that the guys had before we started!

Baby Photography: Welcome Xavier!

Baby Photography: Xavier’s NewBorn Photos

I truly adore doing baby photography! Maybe it is because I have two babies of my own (OK, they are 6 and 2 years old now, so maybe they are not exactly babies anymore!) but to photograph those beautiful little bundles of joy, and to capture their gorgeous innocence and cuteness is a privilege I will never take for granted!

And beautiful little Xavier was no exception! Like all babies, he was curious as to who this strange-sounding guy was when I turned up but he soon got used to me and slept. I always say that during a typical two hour newborn photo shoot, if we have an hour for photography and an hour for feeding/crying/changing/soothing etc, then we are doing pretty well!

We managed to get a fantastic mix of photos with Xavier and got some of him awake, some with Mum and Dad, and some of him looking incredibly cute and beautiful curled up and snoozing on his own!

I always like to get some close-up shots too, to highlight their beautiful little hands, feet and ears. Trust me when I say this: they don’t stay that little for long!

We have two options for baby photography and newborn photo shoots; come to our studio in Alexandra Hills or we can come to you! We will bring along some blankets, baskets and wraps, and by all means feel free to bring along a change or two of clothes and some toys or props!

Redlands Photography – Greg, Jen & Madeleine Family Photos

Redlands Photography: Family Photo Shoot

Location: Wellington Point

Photography in the Redlands is very rewarding indeed – for a start we have countless options for family photo shoot locations, and with plentiful ocean backdrops, Redlands Photography is a must!

I was lucky enough to do a family photo shoot in Wellington Point Park with Greg, Jen and their beautiful daughter Madeleine – the weather was perfect for family photography and Madeleine was an absolute dream to photograph!

It was a gorgeous, clear afternoon with beautiful low sun, which made for some amazing low light shots – check out the reflections and sea view backdrops in these portrait photos!

Wellington Point jetty is a great location for family photo backgrounds – even on a hot and sunny day we can head underneath the jetty for a bit of shade, which helps with squinting and harsh contrasts. We just have to make sure we go at low tide!

The crowning gem is the 400-year old fig trees; they are amazing and it is almost impossible to take a bad family photo there! Redlands Photography is a great hobby and past time but when it happens to be your job too, that has to be a blessing!

Bundaleer Wedding Photography

Wedding Photos: Bundaleer Wedding Photography

Location: Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens, Brookfield

There was nothing about this incredible wedding at Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens that I didn’t adore! I had known Megan and Brandon for a while and knew them to be amazingly friendly and welcoming people, so I knew there would be no dramas on the day. And this magical wedding day went off perfectly! One of the good things about Bundaleer is that you can often use the house behind the property to get ready. Its proximity and amazing light makes an ideal spot for wedding photos!

The only problem when writing a wedding photography blog is that you are forced to leave certain photos out, and as you can see from the length of this blog, I really struggled today!

After photographing the bridesmaids, I headed to Bundaleer itself. I love Bundaleer wedding photography – the venue is such a fantastic place to photograph and the light is always amazing regardless of the weather.

Brandon and the boys were patiently waiting when I got there. Brandon was mildly nervous but excited, and the best man leaving the rings in the wedding car didn’t help! The panic only lasted a few minutes and once the rings were retrieved, it was time for action stations!

Were there tears? Yes! Were there smiles? Yes! It was a perfect ceremony conducted by a family member, and the congratulations afterwards made for some beautifully emotional moments.

Following the family photos, it was time for a wedding photographer’s favourite part of the day! The Bridal Party photos! Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens has some amazing areas for photos and there is no shortage of stunning backdrops. The guys had hired a beautiful car for the day which certainly helped, and with a bridal party as good looking as this, there were never going to be a shortage of photos taken!

Some of the best photos can be taken on the road on the way into Bundaleer so we headed there for some spontaneous, non-posed shots, and again Megan and Brandon were amazing to photograph!

Bundaleer also has a reception room, so we headed there after the photos to party the night away!

Megan had also told me she loved night photography so we sneaked out to grab some awesome shots in the gardens. They turned out to be some of my favourite Bundaleer wedding photos from the whole day! Congratulations guys – your wedding day was perfection!
