It isn’t often someone steals my heart but Rosie most certainly did! As a pet photographer I meet a lot of fur babies and love their unique charms and personalities! Rosie was just beautiful – so easy to photograph, so well behaved and such a loving and obedient puppy!
“They look fantastic, you got so many great ones of Rosie!! Really appreciate everything, you’ve been fantastic!” Jo
And so were her parents Jo and Jarrah! Jo had called a few weeks earlier wanting some pet photographs to capture Rosie before her surgery. I jumped at the chance! Every day is different for photographers and I love the chance for some weekend pet photography!
As with all of my family photography sessions, I get as many different combinations as possible. Pet photography is no different and I mixed up the combos early on! Rosie was an absolute gem in her solo photos, sitting on demand, staying when told to do so – as did her parents! On occasion 😉
We took the pet photography photos at Wellington Point Reserve. It is a great location with bay views, Moreton Bay figs and an open grassy area for Rosie to run around in. A pet photographer usually needs a degree of patience but not so with Rosie! She was a dream! And she even let me get some lovely couple photos of her Mum and Dad!
Our pet photography sessions start at $149 for a 30 minute shoot in the Redlands. To capture the unique personality of your fur babies, we would love to hear from you!
If you are looking for an affordable way to get a selection of amazing family photographs, our Mini Photo Shoots could be exactly what you are looking for! Lasting just 20 minutes (how kid-friendly is that?!), our mini photo sessions include 10 high resolution digital images without any compulsory print spend or added extras!
With the ever changing economy, I thought a budget-friendly option to photography would prove popular, and it really has! Mini Photo Sessions are here to stay!
The feedback has been amazing so I am going to make the mini shoots a regular thing! I will lock out a particular day every couple of months for a Mini Shoot Day, either in New Farm Park, or near me in Wellington Point Reserve!
Affordable Family Photography Brisbane
The shorter photo shoot time has been amazingly popular! Even the most restless of kids can stay still for 20 minutes! It has meant easier, more relaxed family photo sessions and without a hefty price tag! And that’s the best part – the Mini sessions at Wellington Point are only $99, and in New Farm Park they are $129! How good is that?
All of the family photographs on this page were taken at our mini photo shoots, so as you can see there is boundless option for photo combinations and locations.
As always, there are no restrictions to the number of people attending the shoot. A few things to remember:
Mini shoots last for 20 minutes and include 10 high resolution digital images
A non refundable deposit of $50 is required to confirm the booking. No shows or late arrivals will forfeit the deposit. The balance is due on the day.
Allow plenty of time for parking and delays! Mini shoots are time specific and late arrivals will eat into your shoot time!
Capture those once in a lifetime milestone moments, such as a university graduation or high school formal with A Thousand Miles Photography’s fun and affordable graduation photography options. Lara graduated from UQ last year and opted for a one hour photo shoot at her graduation ceremony in St Lucia, and was delighted with the results!
It isn’t every day that you graduate university or high school so a graduation photography session is an ideal way to capture those moments forever.
We started with some photos of Lara by herself, then got some graduation photos with her family. The UQ campus was very busy but we managed to find some quieter spots inside the Great Court and at the front of the main building where Lara was joined by her university friends for a group photo, and a fun photo of everyone throwing their mortar boards!
A Thousand Miles Photography specialise in all kinds of event photography, such as birthday parties, graduation photography, high school formal photography, conferences and events. Andy’s fun and relaxed outlook to photography means that you too will feel relaxed which will come across in your photographs!
If you are looking for an affordable photographer for your graduation, formal or event then we would love to hear from you! Click here to send us an email!
Should I feed my wedding photographer is a question I get asked a lot! And my answer is always the same; if you want to!
A lot of wedding photographers will insist on being fed at your wedding but I understand that if I had a ‘normal’ job, you wouldn’t be shouting my lunch! So I am fairly flexible about it! It is always lovely to have something to eat during a long work day, but it isn’t a deal breaker for me!
The truth is, wedding photographers work very hard and rarely, if ever, get a break, so having a meal towards the end of the day is always very much appreciated and can kick start those energy levels just as they begin to wane! And most, if not all, wedding venues have a ‘supplier meal’ option that will cost a fraction of a guest meal – usually somewhere around the $20-$30 mark. A good wedding photographer will not spend an hour eating – we understand that being in the right place at the right time is absolutely paramount for capturing amazing images, so we will eat quickly, and will be back photographing before you’ve picked up your fork!
And the reality is that there is not usually another option for a wedding photographer to eat! Venues do not let photographers bring in their own food, and it is very rare for a venue to be so close to another food outlet that it is worth a vendor heading out to eat.
In conclusion, you should never feel obligated to feed your wedding photographer, but when there is no other option it always very much appreciated! And keeping those energy levels high will benefit you ten times over!
If you are looking for an Affordable Family Photographer, Andy Williams of A Thousand Miles Photography can help! I travel around South East Queensland photographing families, couples, and weddings, and I adore my job!
Not only will you have fun on your shoot, but you will receive your high resolution digital images (so there are no hidden fees or extra print charges!!) within a week! Finding an Affordable Family Photographer isn’t easy – all too often the sitting fees may seem reasonable but the costs of acquiring the photographs can be extortionate! We take great pride in what we do, and we do it fairly and affordably too!
I am based in the Redlands on Brisbane’s Bayside but travel throughout the South East Queensland region. It works out a little cheaper if you travel to my region but I cover anywhere from the Sunshine Coast, down to the Southern Gold Coast – you can see the pricing here.
I do a lot of my family photo shoots at Wellington Point Reserve as there are so many amazing backdrops we can use! But I know the Redlands, and the Great Brisbane region very well so am always happy to offer some location suggestions, and clothing and posing advice comes for free too!
Family photography is my full time job so I work 7 days and (almost!) 365 days a year to capture your beautiful family. If you would like to check date availability, I would love to hear from you!
For your event photography on the Gold Coast, A Thousand Miles Photography have you covered! Our friendly and professional photographer, Andy Williams, has been photographing Gold Coast events for over ten years. He has photographed events ranging from small birthday gatherings through to huge 1000+ people conferences at SeaWorld so is the perfect choice for your event photography Gold Coast requirements.
Andy was approached to photography Forty Winks’ annual conference. The event was spread over 2 evenings with the first evening being a more relaxed welcome gathering at Miami Marketta, and the 2nd evening was a formal Gala Awards Dinner at Movie World. We have photographed in both venues before so knew it well, and with detailed email and phone contact beforehand, we knew the precise timelines of both events.
The Miami Marketta event was a relaxed affair with welcome drinks, a brief welcome and speech by Forty Winks’ CEO, followed by a DJ and dancing into the night. Miami Marketta has food trucks on site, all of which makes for interesting event photographs! Andy has an eye for detail so photographed everything from candid people photographs to small details of the food trucks and menu.
If you are wanting your next event on the Gold Goast professionally captured, feel free to contact us to discuss options and inclusions. All of our event photography packages include your edited high resolution digital images, a phone consultation beforehand and unlimited email access in the build up to your event.
After all the months of planning, one thing you will never be able to control is a wet wedding! Although rain on your wedding day is not as ironic as Alanis Morissette would have you believe, it can, on occasion, hamper your best laid plans!
So what to do if you have a wet wedding?! My advice? Sing in the Rain!
And that’s precisely what Jessica and Harry did when the rain fell relentlessly on their wedding day! They say that rain is good luck; well if that’s the case these guys will have the greatest marriage of all time! Their wedding at Cedar Creek Lodges (Tamborine Mountain Glades) was fantastic. It was one of my faves! Yes it was wet but with rain comes clouds, and cloud cover gives amazing, softened light. Honest!
When it comes to the best outdoor photography conditions, an overcast sky wins hands down! There’s no squinting, harsh shadows or blown out backgrounds; and using an umbrella forces you to get up close and personal!
We managed to get some fantastic umbrella photos, and then headed indoors at Cedar Creek Lodges’ (Tamborine Mountain Glades) reception area for some awesome indoor shots, but there was one spot that Jessica was super keen to have some photos taken and the rain made that impossible!
The fallen tree at Cedar Creek is one of the best photo spots on Mt Tamborine but during wet weather it becomes slippy and dangerous and, on occasion, is under water and inaccessible!
Wedding Re-Shoot Photos:
So when I had another job at Tamborine Mountain Glades a few months later, I emailed Jessica and asked if she wanted to get dressed up again and do a wedding re-shoot and get some photos on the tree! To say she was keen was an under-statement!
So if it does happen to rain on your parade, try not to stress! Wet wedding photos look amazing, and there’s always the possibility of a re-shoot! And think of the luck it will bring ;)!
“OMG you’re amazing! The photos are amazing! Thank you! So in love with them!”
Having photographed there several times, I have to say Albert River Winery is one of my favourite venues for wedding photography! There are so many locations for amazing wedding photos, and the staff are fantastic! Tash and Shane had an Albert River Winery wedding this February and had the best day of their lives!
The day started with some bridal getting ready photos. Di from Di’s Hair Design was making magic when I arrived (check out her website: https://dihairdesign.com.au/) – we have worked together before so had a chat before I dived into the photos! The girls were very organised and had everything ready for when I got there!
Tash was a little nervous but I prefer a more photojournalastic and candid style of photos for the getting ready part of the day so wasn’t too invasive! After an hour of photos, I headed to Albert River Winery for the wedding ceremony!
I was delighted to see that Mel Price was the celebrant for the day! We had chatted prior to the wedding but had never worked together but Mel is fantastic, fun, organised and a breath of fresh air! (https://www.facebook.com/people/Melissa-Price-MPM-Co/100063609785217/)
Tash relaxed once the ceremony was completed! We did some family photos and a group shot, then everyone headed to the barn for pre-reception drinks as the bridal party had their turn to shine!
Albert River Winery has some fantastic spots for bridal party photos and we used them all!
And once the sun had set and the bridal party were relaxed, the reception started and went on into the small hours!
Receptions are always a lot of fun at Albert River Winery – the outdoor dance floor is an amazing spot to while the night away!
They say that weddings are like your children: you should never have your favourite! But every now and again I will photograph a wedding that goes straight to the top of my faves! Jennifer and Bryan’s Sirromet Winery wedding was one of those weddings!
I had met Jennifer and Bryan on a family photo shoot earlier in the year (thank you Kylie for organising that!! I will be forever in your debt!) and they mentioned they were getting married at Sirromet Winery and asked if I was available. Sirromet is 7km from my house and is easily one of my favourite wedding photography venues so I jumped at the chance!
Jennifer and Bryan are such a gorgeous couple that you can’t help but fall in love with them! After getting ready in one of Sirromet’s posh Sanctuary glamping tents, we headed out for bride and groom photos!
Being a local means I know the best spots for Sirromet winery wedding photos! It was a truly gorgeous day and the loved up couple didn’t stop smiling!
The ceremony was to be held at the Laguna; one of my favourite places to photograph at Sirromet. The guests had started to arrive so I captured the ‘nervous tension’ phase of the day before Jennifer and Bryan’s arrival!
I was chuffed that Cheryl Landsberry was officiating that day! Cheryl is an awesome Brisbane bayside celebrant with whom I have worked several times! She always makes the ceremony personal and fun! You can check out Cheryl’s website here: https://cherylwedding.com/
The ceremony was one of the most emotional weddings I had ever photographed, with more than a few crying shots captured!;) I tend to join in with the tears but I get away with it, being hidden behind a camera!
One of the best things about a Sirromet Winery wedding is the different options you have for post-ceremony socialising! Jennifer and Bryan chose the cellar door for post-ceremony drinks, before heading into the barrel room for their reception.
From all accounts the night was a great success and dancing went into the small hours. Thank you for an amazing day MIL and FIL, and congratulations on the best wedding day ever!
One of the best parts of my job is that I get to work in a different place every day! And then sometimes I work in the same place, but it might have a new name! I had photographed at Tamborine Gardens before, but not since the rebrand to Shambala Estate. Its an amazing venue; it has everything and is a one top venue with accommodation, several ceremony areas, and a fantastic reception room so I was excited to go back when Kristy and Mitch contacted me after I had photographed their friend’s wedding earlier that year!
I headed to the boys first, where I caught up with Amy, the ‘Best Woman’, whose wedding it was that I had photographed in 2021. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun, although Mitch, the soon-to-be-Groom, did insist on vacuuming in his undies!
Getting Ready Photos:
From here I drove to Shambala Estate where the girls were getting ready in one of the cabins. Again the atmosphere was relaxed but busy. I love this part of the day and soaking up the ‘nervous excitement’!
Shambala Estate has amazing on-site cabins, each with a rainforest overlook, and ample privacy!
And being a Dad myself, Dad’s first view of his daughter always gets me! I love that raw emotion and love capturing that on the day.
One final tweak by the bridesmaids and I headed to the ceremony area where I met the wonderful Suzie Jones, wedding celebrant extraordinaire! Suzie was amazing at keeping everyone relaxed and calm and wonderful throughout the ceremony. You can check out her website here!
It was an amazingly emotional ceremony with plenty of tears and smiles
Shambala Estate Photography
I also got to work with my favourite videographer, Bjorn Schmal, who is based on the mountain and is always an absolute dream to work with! He is always fits in with the couple. We work together very well, not getting in each others way, and always making sure the couple get the best shots. You can check out Bjorn’s work and website here! It was at this wedding that Bjorn kindly took the candid photo of me on the front page of this website! Thank you Bjorn!
And once Kristy and Mitch had kissed and swapped rings, we went to take some bridal party photos! Shambala Estate has a great depth of locations for wedding photos, and has some wet weather options too!
I always aim to get some posed photos that will look great on your wall, and also plenty of candid photos. These are always the ones that get mentioned and commented on and are generally most couple’s favourites!
And once the sun had set, it was reception time! The reception room at Shambala Estate is amazing and has a massive wow factor when you walk in! The mezzanine level also makes for a great entrance point for the bridal party and makes for a fantastic elevated perch for great reception photos!
Wedding Photographer
Like the ceremony, the reception was the perfect mixture of laughter and tears. Kirsty and Mitch were asked to be Godparents, I burst into tears at Kristy’s daughters speech, we had a 60th birthday, and there was even handcuffs. Don’t ask!
