Pop Up Picnics

It may seem strange that a photography company does Pop Up Picnics, but it all makes sense really! I was gifted a picnic for my birthday and loved it, but I couldn’t get any decent photos of us! No-one walked past so we had to settle for selfies. So I thought: what if a picnic came with a professional photographer?! And then I thought: what if a professional photographer arranged picnics?! So here we are!

I actually loved buying all the stuff I needed! It was so much fun, and then I did a set up in the backyard for website photos! The best bit about the pop up picnics so far has been that my kids have been involved!! They love helping and setting up!

Emily contacted me a few months ago asking if I could do a picnic for 19 people! I had only really catered for 12, but sure! Why not! Happily they wanted their pop up picnic in Wynnum, not too far from me. We set up in Drevesen Park by the water but in plenty of shade.

In addition to a grazing box or two provided by local legends Jill and Pablo from The Grazing Kitchen (check them out, they’re awesome! https://www.facebook.com/grazingkitchen13/), our picnics are unique as they include a photo shoot to capture your experience properly!

We did the photos before the feasting began (to avoid watermelon juice redecorating the kids’ clothes!!) and I got some candid photos of everyone enjoying their picnic. Then I left the guys to it and came back 2 hours later to clear up! Easy!

A Pop Up Picnic is an amazing, hassle-free way to spend a morning or afternoon, and is ideal for a celebration, a girls afternoon, a baby shower, birthday or family catch up. And having your own photo shoot means you can share your event and relive it!

Straddie Island Wedding Photography

I have lived in the Redlands for over ten years but I am still blown away every time I head to Straddie with just how beautiful it is! There is something about the light over there that is gorgeous and it is impossible to take a bad Straddie Island Wedding Photography photo over there! It does help when you have incredible models like Rhiannon and Ari of course!

I like to think I’m pretty laid back, but I am nothing compared to Ari! Ten minutes before his ceremony and he was in boardies building his wedding arbor from driftwood he found on the beach! Fits perfectly with the laid back Straddie lifestyle!

The ceremony was on Cylinder Beach on the north side of the island and wasn’t too busy. The ceremony was a beautiful, intimate elopement with the couple’s families having flown in from Scotland and Iran.

Bring a winter wedding, we had a sunset over the ocean and it was gorgeous! That golden hour light is just perfect. Straddie Island Wedding Photography light is amazing!

One of my favourite things about being a wedding photographer is the different people I meet and the variety of traditions I get to see! Ari’s sister had set up a traditional Iranian display on the rocks and grated sugar on a white decoration above the couple as they shared honey. Awesome!

Shortly followed by the Aussie tradition of champagne and photos with the family!

One of my favourite parts of any wedding day is the photos of the wedding couple. It is my chance to get creative and to capture the love between the couple. It was the perfect situation: amazing light, amazing couple, amazing scenery! And I call this work!

Seriously though; how gorgeous are these shots! Perfection!

I’ve never liked charging travel fees, but due to the time it takes to get to Straddie and the logistics of hopping on and off ferries and transferring to a bus, I do request you book a 4, 6, or 8-hour package for your Straddie wedding. At least this way you get more photos and aren’t paying for my travel!

Sunrise Photos

It had been a little while since I had taken any sunrise photos so jumped at the chance to do a Raby Bay photo shoot recently! Winter is a great time for sunrise photography as sunrise is around 6.30am. Summer sunrise can be as early as 4.45am! Yikes!

There is something about watching the sunrise over water as it does at Raby Bay in the Redlands. Being a Redlands local, I know the best spots for photography and Raby Bay beaches is one of my faves! The light is always so good at sunrise. Sunset is an equally amazing time for photography, but the best locations tend to be much busier!

I photograph 7 days a week and pretty much 24 hours a day so I don’t shy away from sunrise photos! And I don’t charge extra for inhuman hours either! I genuinely adore what I do for a living and my enthusiasm and dry wit will have you feeling relaxed and actually enjoying the session!

Affordable Maternity Photography

Those amazing nine months of pregnancy fly by all too quickly; an affordable maternity photography shoot is a great way to capture those memories.

I have photographed hundreds of Mums-to-be over the last 15 years so I am always happy to give some posing tips and advice.

Wellington Point Reserve is a great spot for maternity photography. And sunset is the perfect time of day. The sun (sort of!) sets over water, and the low light at the end of the day makes everything, and everyone, glow. I live close to the reserve so know the best spots for pregnancy photos, and know the best locations as the sun is setting.

Pregnancy Photographer

Our affordable maternity photography packages start at just $165 for a 25-minute pregnancy session in the mainland Redlands. This includes at least 15 high resolution digital images. An hour session, which includes at least 30 high resolution images is $220. You can get more information at the maternity photography page.

There is also the option to combine a maternity photo shoot with a newborn shoot. Doing a baby package means you get to celebrate and remember your whole pregnancy journey. And who doesn’t love gorgeous, squishy baby photos?!

Affordable Family Photographs

I have been photographing families for well over ten years. And I love my job! If you are looking for affordable family photographs, I would love to help out! I am a Dad to two kids myself so I speak their language! I also photograph 300 families a year so have plenty of training in dealing with meltdowns, shyness and tantrums!

Our Affordable Family Photograph packages start at $110 for one of our mini shoots. Family Photo Shoot

Ayumi had booked a family photo shoot with me in 2022 and loved the experience so recently rebooked. She was looking for a more candid style of photography so after a handful of posed ones (good for Christmas gifts!) I put on the big lens and let the magic happen!

We started in MK Cafe in New Farm Park and took some ‘lifestyle’ photos. Sundari brought along some friends as ‘models’ to participate in a reading to help highlight her work.

Pet Photographer

It isn’t often someone steals my heart but Rosie most certainly did! As a pet photographer I meet a lot of fur babies and love their unique charms and personalities! Rosie was just beautiful – so easy to photograph, so well behaved and such a loving and obedient puppy!

And so were her parents Jo and Jarrah! Jo had called a few weeks earlier wanting some pet photographs to capture Rosie before her surgery. I jumped at the chance! Every day is different for photographers and I love the chance for some weekend pet photography!

As with all of my family photography sessions, I get as many different combinations as possible. Pet photography is no different and I mixed up the combos early on! Rosie was an absolute gem in her solo photos, sitting on demand, staying when told to do so – as did her parents! On occasion 😉

We took the pet photography photos at Wellington Point Reserve. It is a great location with bay views, Moreton Bay figs and an open grassy area for Rosie to run around in. A pet photographer usually needs a degree of patience but not so with Rosie! She was a dream! And she even let me get some lovely couple photos of her Mum and Dad!

Mini Photo Shoots

Lasting just 20 minutes (how kid-friendly is that?!), our mini photo sessions include 10 high resolution digital images without any compulsory print spend or added extras!

With the ever changing economy, I thought a budget-friendly option to photography would prove popular, and it really has! Mini Photo Sessions are here to stay!

The feedback has been amazing so I am going to make the mini shoots a regular thing! I will lock out a particular day every couple of months for a Mini Shoot Day, either in New Farm Park, or near me in Wellington Point Reserve!

Affordable Family Photography Brisbane

The shorter photo shoot time has been amazingly popular! Even the most restless of kids can stay still for 20 minutes! It has meant easier, more relaxed family photo sessions and without a hefty price tag! And that’s the best part – the Mini sessions at Wellington Point are only $110, and in New Farm Park they are $129! How good is that?

All of the family photographs on this page were taken at our mini photo shoots, so as you can see there is boundless option for photo combinations and locations.

As always, there are no restrictions to the number of people attending the shoot. A few things to remember:

Mini shoots last for 20 minutes and include 10 high resolution digital images
A non refundable deposit of $50 is required to confirm the booking. No shows or late arrivals will forfeit the deposit. The balance is due on the day.
Allow plenty of time for parking and delays! Mini shoots are time specific and late arrivals will eat into your shoot time!

Affordable Maternity Photographer

Although it may feel as if you have already been pregnant for years, those precious maternity months fly by all too quickly! An affordable maternity photographer, such as Andy Williams of A Thousand Miles Photography, can capture those amazing moments before the life change of Bub’s arrival.

We have two options for maternity photographs – either a standalone maternity shoot at a location of your choice, or we have a very popular maternity and newborn package available. This includes a 25-minute maternity shoot at Wellington Point Reserve (where these photos were taken!) and a 2-hour newborn shoot at your home. The total cost for this package is just $550 and will include 15 high resolution digital images from the maternity shoot and 30 from the newborn session!

So when is the best time to do an affordable maternity photography shoot? The best general advice is to have the baby bump photos taken around the 32-36 week mark when the bump is big but not too close to your due date that we may miss out!

And what about the newborn photo shoot? Generally when Bub is around 2 weeks old, but in truth any time in the first 6 weeks works well!

A good affordable maternity photographer will give you some guidance for poses and advice on what clothing to wear. Something that makes you feel beautiful and confident works well, and something that will show off that glorious bump to maximum effect!

Wedding Photographer Redlands

Jen and Bruce called me for their amazing back yard wedding in Sheldon and were delighted with my suggestions for bridal party photography! A Redlands-based wedding photographer knows the best spots for photos – a local always knows best!

We started with some bridal prep photos at Jen’s parent’s place, then I headed to Jen and Bruce’s property for the nervous tension phase of the day! I always the taking the group photo at a wedding – it is usually the most difficult photo to get as you need to have 100+ people looking at the camera at the same time and smiling! And sometimes we have an escapee!
