Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Fields Photos

kooroomba wedding photos

I had been wanting to get some Kooroomba Lavender fields photos for ages so when Vidur contacted me to photograph his proposal, I jumped at the chance! I had visited Kooroomba a few months earlier for an amazing lunch and wine tasting but had never photographed there before. Now I have!

“Hi Andy, Thank you soooo much for yesterday!!! The entire proposal went very well and Bronte was surprised! We absolutely loved the engagement photo shoot, you made it so comfortable and easy for us. The entire experience was so wonderful and exceeded my expectations! You are a legend! It honestly felt like we had known you for a very long time.”

And wow! What a place! Kooroomba lavender fields and vineyards is a gorgeous spot for a wedding, or in this case; a proposal! It took James Bond type stealth between Vee and I to keep the proposal secret in the weeks building up to the event, but all went incredibly well! I was trying to hide amongst the lavender bushes as Vee got into position! I have never taken so many photos of bees in my life!

And the proposal was filled with emotion! There were tears on both sides, but she said yes!!!!

After the hugs and the selfies I went to say hello to Bronte and we started our romantic engagement photo shoot! We started in the roo-filled vineyard, and then got some awesome photos at Kooroomba’s unique wedding chapel! What an amazing place! The guys re-enacted the proposal and then we took a wander through the lavender.

As the sun got lower the light got better. I couldn’t stop snapping! Bronte’s red dress really shone in the late afternoon sun!

I loved getting some Kooroomba lavender fields photos. The backdrop is spectacular and the colour bursting from the lavender is amazing!

Mrs Frost’s Kitchen Wedding

mrs frost's kitchen wedding

There are so many incredible wedding venues in South East Queensland, and I am proud to say I have photographed at most of them! When Liesl and Matt asked me if I had photographed at Mrs Frost’s Kitchen, I had to admit that I hadn’t. But I have now!

And what an amazing location it is for an intimate and personalised wedding! Julie Frost couldn’t have been more helpful on the day, and we even Facetimed so that she could show me around and give me an idea of the geography and the best photo location spots.

I started my day with photos of Leisl getting ready. Matt, who was from Lancashire, where I was born, I met at the venue, and we started with the banter straight away!

I love the ‘nervous tension phase’ of any wedding. The calm before the storm! I used the time to get plenty of candid photos, and capture some Mrs Frost’s Kitchen wedding photos. And what beautiful surrounds they are! Rolling hills, forests, cows, and we even got a rainbow!

Liesl arrived in style in a convertible Mustang, and it wasn’t long before Matt had tears! Sensitive lot us Lancashire folk!

The ceremony was officiated by Pauline Bussain who was the perfect celebrant for Liesl and Matt.

Following a beautiful ceremony that was in equal parts emotional and hilarious, the couple had their kiss and we headed round the back for some family photos! Mrs Frost’s Kitchen has so many amazing spots for wedding photographs. The tree around the back of the property makes for an awesome family photo backdrop.

Mrs Frost’s Kitchen Wedding Photos

And then to my favourite part of the day; bridal party photos! Mrs Frost’s Kitchen has a few cows onsite so we snapped a few with the wildlife before heading down the driveway to a fantastic creek. We had the spot to ourselves so parked up the Mustang and snapped away!

Mrs Frost’s Kitchen also has an awesome rusting steam engine on site! A truly amazing backdrop!

But it is for the food that people head to Mrs Frost’s Kitchen. Julie is such an amazing host, and the long table decor and presentation is faultless. I managed to sneak a couple of canapes, and they were next level delicious!

Thank you Mrs Frost for an amazing introduction to your fabulous venue! I hope to be back again soon to photograph a Mrs Frost’s Kitchen wedding!

Tattersall’s Club in Brisbane is an amazing venue for a wedding! I have shot there several times over the years and find it to be one of the best places for wedding photography in Brisbane. If you are looking for Tattersall’s wedding photos, we would love to hear from you!

Pam and Chris recently asked me to photograph their wedding at Tatt’s Club and I jumped at the chance. I love photographing weddings at Tattersall’s. It is such a unique, classic venue and so photogenic! Even before the venue started to fill, I couldn’t stop snapping!

Happily Renee Wilkins was the celebrant that day. Renee and I have done dozens of weddings together over the years! She always has a great sense of humour and makes a wedding a lot of fun! (https://reneewilkins.com.au/)

Pam and Chris were married in the Member’s Dining Room with its amazing mezzanine level, for fantastic aerial photography and group shots!

The lighting is always so good in there and the decor adds a classic element to your wedding.

Following cocktail hour in the Member’s Dining Room, we grabbed a few bride and groom shots in the club, then headed to the Member’s Bar for the reception! This is another great space for wedding photography!

The small Juliette balcony by the library is my favourite spot for tattersall’s wedding photos. And luckily the weather was kind to us!

And the party! It was an amazing atmosphere, with fabulous food and music!

If you are planning a wedding at Tattersalls, or another venue in or around Brisbane, we would love to hear from you! Our affordable wedding photography packages can be seen here, or if you are looking for something more specific please don’t hesitate to contact us! Same Sex Wedding Photographer

same sex wedding photographer

If you are on the look out for a same sex wedding photographer, I would love to help out! Hi, my name is Andy Williams and I have been photographing weddings for over ten years. I have also been photographing same sex weddings since they (finally!) became legalised in 2017! So you know you are in good hands. Behind experience comes reliability.

“Hey Andy – Just want to say a massive thank you for the photos. They are absolutely amazing and everyone has been so impressed. It has really tied our wedding in the most beautiful way”. Aaron

My first ever same sex wedding as a photographer was a (semi-legal!) wedding in Beerwah for an amazing couple Millie and Nat who had been legalised in New Zealand and were having their showcase ceremony for friends and family here in Queensland. Since then I have photographed close to 50 same sex weddings, my latest one being the wedding of Aaron and Brody on the Gold Coast.

Being a Gold Coast wedding photographer, I have photographed at most venues, including QT Hotel where Aaron and Brody said their ‘I Dos’! Its an amazing venue with a fantastic private upstairs area, with amazing gardens flowing onto a private wedding ceremony deck!

The ceremony was officiated by the bubbly Mel Yusia who added an awesome splash of humour and emotion to the ceremony!

Gold Coast Wedding Photographer

The ceremony itself was filled with emotion and tears. Following some group shots we headed to the beach for some groom and groom wedding photography.

I love photographing on the beach. Although a busy Saturday afternoon does make for more challenges! The boys (and I!) ended up in the water but we got some amazing shots then headed back for the festivities!

The boys booked our 2-hour Elopement Wedding Package. We have several wedding photography packages to suit all days! You can check them out here.

Wedding Photographer Redlands

wedding photographer redlands

Having lived in the beautiful Redlands for over ten years, I know the area very well and have photographed well over 100 weddings in the region. If you are on the search for a wedding photographer Redlands, I’d love to hear from you!

“Just wanted to say thankyou so much for our photos – they are absolutely beautiful! There are so many nice moments that you captured perfectly so thankyou so much” Jen

Jen and Bruce called me for their amazing back yard wedding in Sheldon and were delighted with my suggestions for bridal party photography! A Redlands-based wedding photographer knows the best spots for photos – a local always knows best!

We started with some bridal prep photos at Jen’s parent’s place, then I headed to Jen and Bruce’s property for the nervous tension phase of the day! I was delighted to see Fiona Eady from Ceremonies by The Bay was the celebrant for the day – being a local herself she knows the area well and her fun and laid back delivery is always welcome! https://www.ceremoniesbythebay.com.au/

The ceremony was amazingly delivered, with plenty of humour, emotion and tears!

I always the taking the group photo at a wedding – it is usually the most difficult photo to get as you need to have 100+ people looking at the camera at the same time and smiling! And sometimes we have an escapee!

Redlands Wedding Photographer

And following the ceremony we headed to West Mt Cotton Road for the bridal party photos! This is always my favourite part of the day when the bride and groom can finally relax and I get to be creative!

We had an amazing sunset and fantastic light so I was a happy Redlands wedding photographer as we headed back for the reception!

So if you are looking for a fun, relaxed wedding photographer in the Redlands, I would love to hear from you!

Mt Tamborine Wedding Photographer

mt tamborine wedding photographer

Anyone who has ever met me knows how meticulous and obsessively detailed I am with wedding arrangements and timings! So how strange it was to photograph a full day wedding without being in charge!

Bjorn Schmal from In Love Weddings had contacted me to help with the wedding photography for Lee and Tim for their Old Church wedding on Mt Tamborine. The plan was for Bjorn to look after the video side of things, and me the photos. I jumped at the chance as Bjorn and I have worked together before and we share a very similar outlook on capturing weddings, and he’s a great bloke and top videographer too! (https://www.inlove-weddings.com/)

We met for a coffee before the wedding and ran through the plans, then spent a fun and relaxed couple of hours capturing Tim and his boys, and Lee and her girls getting ready.

Being an experienced Mt Tamborine wedding photographer meant that I knew the venue well and had photographed there before. We were also blessed with fabulous weather so headed outside for some family photos.

Old Church Mt Tamborine

Bjorn and I work very well together and never get in each other’s way! Having photographed and videoed over 20 weddings together, we know how each other work and have an awesome synergy! We also share the same sense of humour and our relaxed outlook on life takes away all the stresses from your wedding!

Once the getting ready photos had been taken it was time for the real deal! The ceremony! The Old Church has a beautiful chapel that makes for fantastic wedding photographs regardless of the weather!

One of my favourite things about Mt Tamborine weddings is the number of photography locations available! We first headed to the rainforest then Hang Glider Hill for sunset. Oh wow, how amazing do the photos look!

And following a beautiful sunset, it was time to party!

Should I Feed My Wedding Photographer?!

should i feed my photographer

Should I feed my wedding photographer is a question I get asked a lot! And my answer is always the same; if you want to!

A lot of wedding photographers will insist on being fed at your wedding but I understand that if I had a ‘normal’ job, you wouldn’t be shouting my lunch! So I am fairly flexible about it! It is always lovely to have something to eat during a long work day, but it isn’t a deal breaker for me!

The truth is, wedding photographers work very hard and rarely, if ever, get a break, so having a meal towards the end of the day is always very much appreciated and can kick start those energy levels just as they begin to wane! And most, if not all, wedding venues have a ‘supplier meal’ option that will cost a fraction of a guest meal – usually somewhere around the $20-$30 mark. A good wedding photographer will not spend an hour eating – we understand that being in the right place at the right time is absolutely paramount for capturing amazing images, so we will eat quickly, and will be back photographing before you’ve picked up your fork!

And the reality is that there is not usually another option for a wedding photographer to eat! Venues do not let photographers bring in their own food, and it is very rare for a venue to be so close to another food outlet that it is worth a vendor heading out to eat.

In conclusion, you should never feel obligated to feed your wedding photographer, but when there is no other option it always very much appreciated! And keeping those energy levels high will benefit you ten times over!

Rustic Wedding Photography

rustic wedding photography

One of the most searched wedding phrases over the last few years is ‘rustic wedding photography’. And it’s not hard to wonder why! Rustic weddings have maintained their popularity because of the timelessness of the imagery and the countless options for beautiful backdrops.

Karen and Ben had originally contacted me to photograph their wedding back in 2019, but then Covid struck and Karen’s UK family were unable to travel. After a few date changes, they locked in 26th March 2023, their venue of choice was the amazing Cowbell Creek in Austinville. I had been there before but had never seen it so green and so beautiful, and in spite of a bit of British rain early in the proceedings, the day was a huge success!

I arrived early (as always!) and photographed the ‘nervous tension’ part of the day. Was the wedding going to be inside or out? Would the rain stop? Ben and his boys were there early, and Karen was impressively on time too!

With the rain radar looking busy, we opted for an indoor ceremony, which was of no consequence at a venue like Cowbell Creek as the Plan B is as amazing as the Plan A!

The ceremony had plenty of tears and was filled with emotion. With the rain abating I was able to take the bridal party around the property for some rustic wedding photos!

Cowbell Creek is the perfect venue for rustic wedding photography. There are limitless locations for photos, and I was like a kid in a sweet shop choosing the best options!

From animals:

To barns:

To trees:

And fields:

To everything in between!

And so to the barn for the reception. And what a reception space it is!

Wet Wedding Photography!

Tamborine Mountain Glades

wet wedding photography

After all the months of planning, one thing you will never be able to control is a wet wedding! Although rain on your wedding day is not as ironic as Alanis Morissette would have you believe, it can, on occasion, hamper your best laid plans!

So what to do if you have a wet wedding?! My advice? Sing in the Rain!

wet wedding photography

And that’s precisely what Jessica and Harry did when the rain fell relentlessly on their wedding day! They say that rain is good luck; well if that’s the case these guys will have the greatest marriage of all time! Their wedding at Cedar Creek Lodges (Tamborine Mountain Glades) was fantastic. It was one of my faves! Yes it was wet but with rain comes clouds, and cloud cover gives amazing, softened light. Honest!

When it comes to the best outdoor photography conditions, an overcast sky wins hands down! There’s no squinting, harsh shadows or blown out backgrounds; and using an umbrella forces you to get up close and personal!

We managed to get some fantastic umbrella photos, and then headed indoors at Cedar Creek Lodges’ (Tamborine Mountain Glades) reception area for some awesome indoor shots, but there was one spot that Jessica was super keen to have some photos taken and the rain made that impossible!

The fallen tree at Cedar Creek is one of the best photo spots on Mt Tamborine but during wet weather it becomes slippy and dangerous and, on occasion, is under water and inaccessible!

Wedding Re-Shoot Photos:

So when I had another job at Tamborine Mountain Glades a few months later, I emailed Jessica and asked if she wanted to get dressed up again and do a wedding re-shoot and get some photos on the tree! To say she was keen was an under-statement!

So if it does happen to rain on your parade, try not to stress! Wet wedding photos look amazing, and there’s always the possibility of a re-shoot! And think of the luck it will bring ;)!

“OMG you’re amazing! The photos are amazing! Thank you! So in love with them!”
