I love getting pregnancy photos at Wellington Point Reserve as there are so many amazing backdrops, and the sun (pretty much!) sets over water there! The light is fantastic late afternoon but we can get maternity photographs at any time of day there.
I was always welcome input into any pregnancy photography session. I have a few photo ideas but always welcome any thoughts and ideas that you have. These are your photos after all!

I have been photographing soon-to-be Mums for over a decade and absolutely love every maternity shoot I do. Maternity photos capture something so special at such a unique time of your life so feel honoured every time I get to capture this amazing time. Maternity photos are usually taken around the 32 – 36 week mark when the bump is big but not too late that we might miss out!
I have a maternity photography and new born package that includes a 25 minute maternity shoot at Wellington Point Reserve and a 2-hour newborn shoot in your own home (see the package details here!) but on this occasion Chantal and Marius chose to have their maternity photos at Curtis Falls at Mt Tamborine. I have known the couple for years (I photographed their awesome sunrise wedding in Byron Bay last year!) so didn’t hesitate to say yes!
With maternity photos I always get plenty of photos of the couple but focus mainly on solo photos of Mum. Siblings are also welcome to the shoot, as are fur babies! I also actively encourage input and ideas so feel free to send through those Pinterest boards!
You can wear whatever feels comfortable to your maternity shoot. Some Mummas want to show their bump, others are a little shy, and that’s totally fine! The most important thing is that this amazing time of your life gets captured. It flies by too quickly, and then life is never the same again!

Maternity Photos
Christel and Ben booked in the Maternity and Newborn Photo Package to celebrate the arrival of their son Nathan. They brought along Leah, their daughter for both shoots (families and fur babies are always welcome at our shoots!) and she was so excited about the arrival of her baby brother!
Maternity photo shoots can be done at any time, but I personally love late afternoon as the sun is setting. The light is low, and Wellington Point Reserve is one of the few places on Australia’s east coast that sees the sun set over water (ideal for baby bump silhouettes!) Christel and Ben chose the perfect day.
Newborn Photos
Newborn baby photos are usually taken in the first 2 weeks when Bub is still tiny and sleeps more! In truth newborn shoots can be done any time in the first 6 weeks, but by then your baby will have filled out and will be awake a little more! But they will also be learning to smile – so cute!
Since Covid, I have been doing newborn baby photo shoots exclusively at your own home. The success rate is so much higher than being in a studio! Parents are more relaxed, as is Baby. You don’t have to pack a bag only to forget nappies etc. I bring everything I need for the photos: baskets, blankets, wraps, lighting, so you just need a Baby and we are good to go!
You are welcome to do just a newborn shoot of course. These are still conducted in your own home and are just $450, which will include between 30 – 40 edited, high resolution digital images.

I was lucky enough to be contacted by Tayla and Luke to do their maternity photography shoot after having photographed their wedding a couple of years ago! And how amazing do they look? Well, Tayla does at least! We did the maternity photography shoot at Wellington Point Reserve; one of my favourite spots for photos! We had beautiful filtered light which always makes for amazing photos. My kids even came along as Tayla taught my son, Owyn, in 1st grade and he was keen for a catch up!
I love doing baby bump photos! They are always so much fun! I love the nervousness and excitement of the couple, and being a Dad myself I always like to share stories and potential expectations!
Wellington Point Reserve also gives heaps of varied backdrops too; with a wooden jetty, some amazing Moreton Bay fig trees, and ocean views. It is little wonder I do most of my photo shoots there!
